I enjoyed my calculus classes, even though I was nearly phobic of them at first, because they finally showed me why I had studied algebra all that time. I'm just going to say it: I'm not all that keen on reading Leviticus in the Bible. This is a repost of my final project for my 10th-grade Calculus AB class. For the one with an unprepared mind, Vedanta is like calculus for a person who is learning basic mathematics. At my high school, we had the option of taking either AP Calc AB or AP Calc BC. Now, 6 years later (and 8 years later than high school math) it all came flooding back and I could basically phone in my calculus homework. I say this as a former mathematician and someone who really enjoyed learning calculus. As I think back to my own senior year of high school, I remember one particular class that my friends and I didn't enjoy: AP Calculus. Unfortunately, the more common question is “Why do people like math?” As explained by these responders, math simply isn't taught in an interesting way — and our cultural stigma against it certainly doesn't help, either. But I realize that just because I loved calculus, doesn't mean that it's important for everyone to learn it. Same reason a lot of people hate spinach or . Leviticus computes about as well with me as calculus. Calculus was what math could really do! They said to me, "I was great in algebra and geometry, but when I took calculus, it was like hitting a wall and I couldn't get it at all. After all, just about everyone I've met who gave up math said that calculus was the reason. Being on the edge of a wave, being out there and potentially falling and getting crunched In that moment, you have to figure it out -- it's kind of like a life or death situation.
